Hi, I am Marc Koblas. I have just discovered Rails. If all the praise about it on the blogs is any indication then rails must be really awesome. I have tried out some basic stuff using webrick. before I go any further i want to make sure that my hosting provider supports Rails. Is there a list of instructions which I can give to my hosting provider which he can follow to get ruby/rails enabled on the server? I am very new to both Ruby and Rails so i can not help him out if he gets stuck. So it has to be a really straightforward list of instructions. Please pardon me if this question has already been asked on the list. Thanks for all your help. Hope to get actively involved with Rails asap :) Marc Koblas Send instant messages to your online friends http://uk.messenger.yahoo.com

Re: [Newbie] New to ROR
Bonjour Marc, Le vendredi 11 mars 2005 à 22:04:20, vous écriviez :> Is there a list of instructions which I can give to my > hosting provider which he can follow to get ruby/rails > enabled on the server?Just ask him, as a provider I hope he will be aware to check out the pre-requisities for a Rails installation. Once he know what Rails is, and how it work (many ways are possibles on a ISP point of view (cgi, fastcgi, apache mod_proxy), sure this list will help him to choose the right way. Ciao'' Mathieu

As a hosting provider they should be the ones doing the dirty work (that''s why you pay them to do it). ;-) If they can''t provide you with it, there are several companies that offer Rails hosting now.
