Try using append= like this where BOD is built into R:
write.table(BOD[1:3,], "BOD.txt", row.names = FALSE, sep =
"\t")
write.table(BOD[4:5,], "BOD.txt", row.names = FALSE, sep =
"\t",
col.names = FALSE, append = TRUE)
