R help - Mar 2008 - How to generate column names for pairwise comparison

Hi,

Given names <- c("a", "b", "c", "d").
I would like to generate "a vs. b", "a
vs. c", "a vs. d", "b vs. c", "b vs. d",
"c vs. d"

try this:

nams <- c("a", "b", "c", "d")
combn(nams, 2, paste, collapse = " vs. ")
