R help - Oct 2007 - building a copy of R with certain packages in Linux

Dear R Gurus:

I would like to have a version of R with certain packages only to be
put together in Linux.

Does something like that exist, please?

I'm thinking it might be a sort of
R CMD build

but I don't know how to proceed.
