I am attempting an install of R-1.7.1 on a Sun Solaris 9 box. It is a V880.
It has 8 processors at 950MHz each and 32 Gb of physical memory.
I can './configure' and after, I get the following:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------
R is now configured for sparc-sun-solaris2.9
Source directory: .
Installation directory: /usr/local
C compiler: gcc -g -O2
C++ compiler: g++ -g -O2
Fortran compiler: g77 -g -O2
Interfaces supported: X11
External libraries:
Additional capabilities: PNG, bzip2, PCRE
Options enabled: R profiling
Recommended packages: yes
configure: WARNING: you cannot build DVI versions of the R manuals
configure: WARNING: you cannot build info versions of the R manuals
configure: WARNING: you cannot build PDF versions of the R manuals
I can run the 'make' fine, but when I run the 'make check' I
receive the
following errors:
root@sapporo(R-1.7.1)# make check
collecting examples for package 'base' ...
>>> Building/Updating help pages for package 'base'
Formats: text example
running code in 'base-Ex.R' ...*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `base-Ex.Rout'
Current working directory /tmp/R-1.7.1/tests/Examples
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `test-Examples-Base'
Current working directory /tmp/R-1.7.1/tests/Examples
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `test-Examples'
Current working directory /tmp/R-1.7.1/tests
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `test-all-basics'
Current working directory /tmp/R-1.7.1/tests
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `check'
Obviously, because of these errors, I cannot do a successful 'make
install'.
I am not a very experienced script programmer and I'm sure this weakness
will not help in this matter. I have two other Solaris 8 machines and
R-1.7.1 installed successfully.
I'd appreciate any help on this matter, please respond to my
dapayne@purdue.edu email. Thanks in advance.
