R help - Jul 2002 - Problems with Lattice Package

Dear List

I am having trouble installing the package 'Lattice'.

I have tried to install as I have done for others by using

install.packages("lattice")

which seems to work ok and places a 'lattice' file in the R library

However, when I run library(lattice) to call it, I keep getting the following
error:

Error in parse(file, n, text, prompt) : syntax error on line 2018

Could anybody tell me why I am getting this and how I can get this package to
work?
