I have a brand new cluster setup but I am having problems with setting up resources and finding good information on how to create them. I will have all the XEN images created on node1 but I want the cluster to migrate the VMs to the other nodes for me. When working with Novell they were not really sure if this is possible or not. So if anyone can provide me with some insight or some documentation I would really appreciate it. _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users
Hello Joseph, To migrate domUs you need a shared Storage like an iscsi target with cluster fs or an nfs share. How many xen nodes have you? But I should be able to just use an NFS mount from a NetApp san correct or does it have to be a Iscsi volume? -----Original Message----- From: Javier Guerra [mailto:javier@guerrag.com] Sent: Friday, October 30, 2009 2:13 PM To: Michel Rode Cc: Joseph Coleman; xen-users@lists.xensource.com Subject: Re: [Xen-users] XEN and Clustering SLES11 On Fri, Oct 30, 2009 at 1:57 PM, Michel Rode <rode@b1-systems.de> wrote:> To migrate domUs you need a shared Storage like an iscsi target with cluster > fs or an nfs share.shared storage, yes, it's needed cluster FS, no. it can help on some setups; but in general you only need clustered volume management (cLVM) -- Javier _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

Glad to here.. Is there a good place to go for information on how to setup resources and setup the load balancing in the cluster? I am using openais and pacemaker.. Novell is looking but I need to keep moving on this and this is where I am stuck so any advice or links would be really helpful and appreciated -----Original Message----- From: Javier Guerra [mailto:javier@guerrag.com] Sent: Friday, October 30, 2009 2:20 PM To: Joseph Coleman Cc: xen-users@lists.xensource.com Subject: Re: [Xen-users] XEN and Clustering SLES11 On Fri, Oct 30, 2009 at 2:13 PM, Joseph Coleman <joe.coleman@infinitecampus.com> wrote:> But I should be able to just use an NFS mount from a NetApp san correct or does it have to be a Iscsi volume?yes, NFS does work if you store image files. iSCSI (or AoE, FibreChannel, nbd, etc.) is needed if you want block-based images. usually, image files over NFS is at the bottom of the performance options; but a good NetApp is among the very few that can actually deliver adequate results. -- Javier _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users
