Hi, I am a newb to XCP and somewhat to Linux. I set up XCP on a test machine and used xe to configure a couple of VMs. The VMs are working fine but if I deploy XCP with only xe to manage machines, the others here will want my head on a plate. I set up a Fedora client on a different machine and installed Virtual Machine Manager. When trying to connect via SSH, I get an error that says "Unable to open a connection to the libvirt management daemon." I looked through the XCP setup and management guides and didn''t see anything mentioned about starting daemons for remote management. Is anyone doing this successfully? Thanks _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

Thanks for the link. I''m still wanting to hear from anyone who is using "Virtual Machine Manager" with XCP. I did get XenWebManager installed on a Fedora15 client and connected to my host, but some of the functions return errors. I can view the consoles of the running virtual machines, and I can suspend, but not restart VMs. and I''m not able to do Snapshots from within the app. This is most likely a permissions issue. The error message at the bottom of the screen says "error on_btremoveinterface_clicked " Google returned no hits for this error, so any help is appreciated. The documentation on this app is somewhat scant. On Wed, Jul 27, 2011 at 1:04 PM, Mike Galvez <late2werk@gmail.com> wrote:> Hi, > > I am a newb to XCP and somewhat to Linux. While libvirt has bindings with Xen itself (through libxc and, soon, libxl), unfortunately, there is no version of VMM that supports XenAPI, and there are no bindings between libvirt and XenAPI. I''m told that someone attempted to create a libvirt/XenAPI binding of some sort, but that the impedance mismatch between the two APIs was too high. Perhaps there is room for a "good enough" translation between the two APIs, but I don''t know of any work being done on this. Thanks for letting me know. Being new to this I made the assumption that Xen and XCP shared the same tools and bindings. I have a live CD version of XenServer and the xsconsole on it looks almost identical to XCP. Mark, Thanks. I''ll give XenCenter a try. After 30 days nothing happens except you are annoyed to death with the window. The biggest "glitch" with xencenter is that the performance tab doesnt work. My performance tab was completely crashing XenCenter until I did the override, now it seems fine. My only complaint there would be that the graphs don''t scale the Y axis, so with a 1Gbps interface, if you only ever do a few Mbps, your graph will look like an eternal flatline. If the Y axis scaled based on the max seen speed, it would be a very useful graph.
