[Xen-users] changing run level from 3 to 5 leavs Dom0(FC12) hangs completely ....
Hi Boris and all, Thanks, Finally I am able to run FC12(dom0) +xen3.4.1 with Ubuntu domU + windows vista on my Lenovo T400 laptop, however, I have one query regarding graphics display, I am running dom0 in run level 3( init-3) but whenever I try to switch from run level 3 to run level 5 using ''startx'' command, dom0 hangs completely and only solution left to restart my T400 again. Is this expected behavior?? .. All I want to run my Dom0 OS as normal FC12 and from there I want to connect my domU using virt-viewer or vnc client. I am experimenting Xen on latest Lennovo T400 laptop.first time. when I try to connect, DomU using virt-viewer or virt-manager from Dom0, it reports "can''t open display" . I feel this is happening cauz, X11 dosen''t ( graphics program) dosen''t execute in run level3. is this expected ? Thanks in advance. -- Avinash Singh ECE-07 ITBHU Varanasi. I keep run level 5 for Xen Host. ( Video Radeon HD 4650) I believe pvops kernel has built in drivers for Intel Video Chipsets and Radeon. View Drivers->Graphics->DRM Boris. Please, write "Hi all , and Boris in particular" ;). It''s message to mailing list. ________________________________ From: avinash singh <avi2003itbhu@gmail.com> To: xen-users@lists.xensource.com Sent: Wed, November 25, 2009 9:27:24 PM Subject: [Xen-users] changing run level from 3 to 5 leavs Dom0(FC12) hangs completely .... I feel this is happening cauz, X11 dosen''t ( >graphics program) dosen''t execute in run level3. is this expected ? With runlevel 3 and gdm running without X-Server. Setup tiger-vncserver to run, change ./vnc/xstartup correspondently , then vncviewer connected from remote host with X-Server would open gnome session for you. GDM would become a client of remote X-Server. Not sure about F12, on Ubuntu 8.10 , Solaris Nevada just gdm.conf tuning brings up Xvnc service via xinetd ( on demand ). But, once again it allows local GDM to work as a client of remote X-Server. Hi All! I was wondering if someone could point me to a good document that can help me understand how to setup XCI on a test notebook. Of course I found the XciBuildingInstructions, but I was wondering if this is the only way to build and setup XCI? Because the release notes of Xen 3.4.2 mention: The complete list of new features in Xen 3.4 includes: . Desktop and Device Computing o Base Xen Client Hypervisor Code Availability So that seems that you can compile it yourself using the Xen3.4.2 package. Or am I wrong about that and is the only way as described in the XciBuildingInstructions. Speaking of which. When I try that nothing happens after calling the git clone command: xci:/usr/src# git clone http://xenbits.xen.org/git-http/xenclient/build.git /usr/src/build Initialized empty Git repository in /usr/src/build/.git/ Any tips on how to get past that are also very welcome!
