Hi All, I have a domain that will not destroy or delete. Destroying gives no error, deleting gives the error "Error: Domain is not halted." And start gives this error "Error: Domain is already running". mg4 1024 1 0.0 The domain was created with this command but crashed early in the install process: virt-install -n mg4 -r 1024 --vnc --vncport=5918 --noautoconsole --os-type=rhel5 -p -l http://www.mirrorservice.org/sites/mirror.centos.org/5.3/os/x86_64/ I have tried restarting the xend service. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get rid of this Domu? Thanks, Rob The SAQ Group Registered Office: 18 Chapel Street, Petersfield, Hampshire GU32 3DZ SAQ is the trading name of SEMTEC Limited. Hi Vlado, There is no process with mg4 in the name, is there anything else I oculd try? Hi Vlado, Details below. Ususally domains created with this method respond to xm commands but this one seems to be very stuck and I cannot reboot Dom0. xm shutdown mg4 Error: Usage: xm shutdown <Domain> [-waRH] xm list mg4 Name ID Mem VCPUs State Time(s) mg4 1024 1 0.0 xm delete mg4 Error: Domain is not halted. Usage: xm delete <DomainName> Thanks, Rob From: xen-users-bounces@lists.xensource.com [mailto:xen-users-bounces@lists.xensource.com] On Behalf Of Vlado Peshov Sent: 15 May 2009 12:15 To: xen-users@lists.xensource.com Subject: Re: [Xen-users] Cannot destroy or delete domain On Fri, May 15, 2009 at 11:44 AM, Robert Dunkley <Robert@saq.co.uk> wrote: Hi Vlado, There is no process with mg4 in the name, is there anything else I oculd try? what does: #xm list returns? Try doing ''xm list --long'' and seeing if it has a uuid associated with it, and try doing xm shutdown on that uuid. Another option is do: ps -ef |grep qemu And look for stuck qemu processes (if its running that way) and kill them off. Hi Pawel, Thanks for the help but unfortunately using the UUID behaves no differently to using the VM name. I did find out what was wrong though using the command you sent me, virt-install has tried to use a bridge that does not exist on my setup, I have since created a para virtual VM with virt-install specifying the bridge and this new VM works fine. Unfortunately the "mg4" VM is still stuck. Thanks again, Rob Here is the output from the xm list -all: (domain (on_crash restart) (uuid f18bf80a-bf5e-5419-a9be-23611b512330) (bootloader_args ) (vcpus 1) (name mg4) (on_poweroff destroy) (on_reboot restart) (bootloader /usr/bin/pygrub) (maxmem 1024) (memory 1024) (shadow_memory 0) (features ) (on_xend_start ignore) (on_xend_stop ignore) (image (linux (kernel ) (device_model /usr/lib64/xen/bin/qemu-dm))) (status 3) (device (vif (bridge virbr0) (mac 00:16:3e:40:2b:1b) (uuid 331b0c8f-64d6-70e7-606d-97ab073c368a) ) ) (device (vbd (uuid 5fed8d6e-d3f2-4a81-4dc0-949391c8c302) (bootable 1) (driver paravirtualised) (dev xvda) (uname phy:/dev/data2/mg4) (mode w) ) ) (device (vkbd (uuid 39c5c060-0aa1-3495-e2a5-c54feccacada))) (device (vfb (type vnc) (vncdisplay 18) (uuid 42772df8-1b22-6917-f7a6-21a1474dfd99) ) ) ) From: Paweł Kiełbicki [mailto:kielbikp@gmail.com] Sent: 15 May 2009 13:41 To: Robert Dunkley Subject: Re: [Xen-users] Cannot destroy or delete domain Hi Rob, Did You try : xm list and then xm destry <nr_id_of_machine_you_want_do_del> ? 2009/5/15 Robert Dunkley <Robert@saq.co.uk> Hi Vlado, There is no process with mg4 in the name, is there anything else I oculd try?
