Hello List!!!! I have a question (hopefully not silly): I want to install Xen on Linux. Which Linux distribution to use ? (is Ubuntu a good idea?) and secondly, which Xen Version (Xen 3.0)? Any suggestions to make the installation as easy as possible? Thanks Helen _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

It has been really simple for me - just a basic Slackware install (you can just select the full 3Gb install if you like, or trim it down to 300 Mb - the choice is yours). Start to finish for me is about half an hour, assuming a full install on semi-modern hardware. You then need to install the GRUB boot loader, available as a package The grab a Xen binary, unpack it and run install.sh - I''ve found Xen 3.1.0 to be stable enough for me. Depending on your hardware, you may then also need to run mkinitrd Modify your GRUB''s menu.lst to include an entry for Xen Create some additional loop devices Reboot into the Xen kernel. ______________________________________________________________________ This email has been scanned by the MessageLabs Email Security System. The choice of which one to use depends upon your taste, where you want to use (production or testing), and the requirement for support. TheI''ve seen issues with Ubuntu domUs. It *looked* as if some things in Ubuntu were statically linked against TLS libraries or something. There was no /lib/tls yet I was seeing the sort of dmesg errors that you associate with use of TLS libraries.> choice of which one to use depends upon your taste, where you want to > use (production or testing), and the requirement for support.
