Hey all. I have a single Windows 2003 SP1 HVM guest running on a FC7 box. The system has a single dual core 5130 Xeon @ 1.6ghz. For some reason, network performance is very bad, causing the CPU on the guest to go through the roof at very low bit rates - say under 5MB per second. I''ve done alot googling and looked through the Xen forums. I see other users are reporting problems with network performance but i''m not sure how to resolve or improve it. Does anyone have any suggestions? At the moment the only solution is to run Virtual Iron, Xen Enterprise, or Novell SLES, because there are optimized/paravirtualized drivers available for them. -- Pasi _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

RE: [Xen-users] Network Performance issues on 3.1 - FC7
Windows drivers are included in the free Xen Express distribution. Look for a tools cd image. I dunno if it is applicable to this issue, but installing them allowed us to gain a bit of speed on network transmissions and disk reads. We were using a fully virtualized Windows 2003 server domU on a CentOS 5 dom0. -----Message d''origine----- De : xen-users-bounces@lists.xensource.com [mailto:xen-users-bounces@lists.xensource.com] De la part de Pasi Kärkkäinen Envoyé : 25 septembre 2007 15:55 À : Errol Neal Cc : xen-users@lists.xensource.com Objet : Re: [Xen-users] Network Performance issues on 3.1 - FC7 On Tue, Sep 25, 2007 at 01:46:34PM -0400, Errol Neal wrote:> Hey all. I got a blue screen on the Suse drives and the Xen Express drivers, didn''t even get noticed in the system. Has there been any talk regarding merging some of the code from Virtual Iron back into the main tree to get some of the performances benefits. I''ve used VI and it performs well.. -------------------------------------------------------- This email and any files transmitted with it are confidential and are intended solely for the use of the individual or entity to whom they are addressed. I had poor performance on my winxp hvm on fc7 also, till I added that. It is now about 1/2 the performance of dom0, with no significant cpu load. _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

RE: [Xen-users] Network Performance issues on 3.1 - FC7
I installed them the simplest way possible. - Find the tools cd image hidden somewhere in Xen Express - Mount it via Daemon tools or somethin'' - Copy all the files to your Windows domU instance - Logon to your win domU and install - Reboot And that was that. We are using Windows 2003 server r2 (if that''s relevant...).
