There''s some other obviour requiremnts, such as "sufficient amount of memory & disk-space" and "somewhere that the virtual machine OS can be loaded from", but those are more the natural requirements for any virtualization... -- Mats _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

AMD-V and Intel VT supports 64-bit OS''s as guests, as long as the Hypervisor (Xen + Dom0 in this case) is 64-bit. Of course, in the Intel case there are some processors that have VT but don''t support 64-bit, in which case a 64-bit guest-OS won''t work, of course... -- Mats> > Geoff Streeter > > > >_______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users
how much do you think memory is required. How much minimum space should be available on host and how much to allocate for each guest. My system is para virtualised which means it doesnt support Intel VT , so is there any possibilities to install windows with para virtualised. If not then ill install fedora core 6 again over the xen just to test its functionality. One more thing i just now noticed is that when i insert any cd in cd rom ....where does the contents go . Because i looked at the system folder and there is no option for cd rom .....i am new to this env and dont knw much about its features...pls guide me d right way. thanks .. anant wrote:> > Hi, > can anybody pls tel me " what are the requirement of xen to have WINDOWS > Operating System on top of it" ? > Thanks > >-- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/xen-requirements-for-windows-OS-tf2731486.html#a7620008 Sent from the Xen - User mailing list archive at Nabble.com. _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

I''ve never installed for Para-virtualization, so I can''t say. There are several web-sites that have explanations on how to do this, tho'', I''m 100% sure. [I''ve seen it on the list before]. Can you try to write proper english in the future, as "ne" to me is "northeast", not "any", for example. If you want to have an educated discussion, it''s probably a good idea to sound clever rather than stupid. As to the disk-space, it depends on what else you want to do with it. Just like "how big a hard-disk do I need in my machine". You can get a minimal installation into a few gigabytes (less than 2GB even), but if you want to install a web-server and run a big database, you may need 100GB... I''ve copied this back to the list, as I''m not really the right person to help you with PV-questions. -- Mats> -----Original Message----- > From: Anant Nigam [mailto:anigam@uclan.ac.uk] > Sent: 30 November 2006 15:10 > To: Petersson, Mats > Subject: RE: [Xen-users] xen requirements for windows OS > > hi > thanks for reply, > well i know quite a lot about it now.
