Hi There, We have a debian domU that is using LVM-backed VBD''s as drives. When i formatted the LVM partitions, im pretty(!) sure that i formatted them as ext3 drives. They mount OK as a ext3 drive under the dom0... but when booting the domU, i get this: EXT2-fs warning (device hda1): ext2_fill_super: mounting ext3 filesystem as ext2 VFS: Mounted root (ext2 filesystem). Still works OK tho. Any ideas? Simon _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

Re: [Xen-users] DomU boot EXT2-fs warning question
search on google mkinitrd read about ramdisk option in your config /etc/xen/domU.conf Hi There, Can you explain what you mean by this? Sorry for the lamo question! Re: [Xen-users] DomU boot EXT2-fs warning question
TRY mkinitrd -v -f --with=ext3 /boot/initrd-KERNEL-xen-ext3.img KERNEL add a ramdisk line on your domU config like this ramdisk="/boot/initrd-KERNEL-xen-ext3.img" remember to replace KERNEL with your KERNEL version xm destroy domU xm create domU -c test if the problem is fixed. google is your friend, search on google about kernel initrd> search on google > > mkinitrd > > read about ramdisk option in your config /etc/xen/domU.conf > > > Hi There, > > Can you explain what you mean by this? Here is another wierd thing: Considering: EXT2-fs warning (device hda1): ext2_fill_super: mounting ext3 filesystem as ext2 VFS: Mounted root (ext2 filesystem). in dmesg, i have been trying to find out what this is about, however, i thought to check the mounted disks via: "df -t ext2" and got nothing, however, if i do: dev:~# df -t ext3 Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on /dev/hda1 15481840 3306004 11389404 23% / So the root partition is mounted as ext3... but i get the error in dmesg. Simon ********************************** I had the same error message... turned out my kernel was configured with EXT3 as a module. Check the config file for your kernel, eg. cd to your kernel sources dir, usually /usr/src/linux type:> grep -in ext3 .config if the result looks something like this... 2140:CONFIG_EXT3_FS=m it means support for file system type EXT3 has been compiled as a module (m) The root file system (/) must be mounted before any modules can be loaded, so (/) will be mounted as ext2 even if it''s ext3, because ext3 support is not available until the module is loaded. You need to reconfigure the kernel (eg. make xconfig), select (y) for EXT3 under "File systems" and then recompile. Now "grep -in ext3 .config" should return something like this... 2135:CONFIG_EXT3_FS=y Hope this helps solve your problem. _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users
