Hi, Sorry for this OffTopic, but I''m in searching for a SAN solution (both FibreChannel and iSCSI considered). I would like to read about your successes in using Xen3 (particularly debianbase packages based sarge solutions) with a SAN based storage for DomU partitions, and their data. I''m particularly interested in the FibreChannel/(1-10)GbEthernet cards used. Thanks in advance Geza _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users
hello gemes, we are using xen 3 with a ibm ds400 san with qlogic 2313 fc hbas. distibution is debian sarge and the xen 3 patches from debianbase.de. the only "difficulty" is that you have to build your own bootcd, because (as far as i am aware of)the qlogic hba drivers aren''t compiled into any floppy boot kernel. cioa, artur On Wed, 08 Mar 2006 18:05:25 +0100, Gémes Géza <geza@kzsdabas.sulinet.hu> wrote:> Hi, > > Sorry for this OffTopic, but I''m in searching for a SAN solution (both > FibreChannel and iSCSI considered). > I would like to read about your successes in using Xen3 (particularly > debianbase packages based sarge solutions) with a SAN based storage for > DomU partitions, and their data. > I''m particularly interested in the FibreChannel/(1-10)GbEthernet cards > used. > > Thanks in advance > > Geza > > _______________________________________________ > Xen-users mailing list > Xen-users@lists.xensource.com > http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users-- Using Opera''s revolutionary e-mail client: http://www.opera.com/mail/ _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users
We have a Xen based box booting from a CoRAID device and we are using clvm to carve out lvs for the virtual machines running on it. How have you found it? Thanks. -Barry Flanagan _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users
We are a CoRaid reseller, so we like it. It''s slower than fiber channel alternatives, but MUCH cheaper. It''s a good low cost san and allows you to use your normal linux tools (lvm, clvm, md, etc) to get a lot done. The only thing that I don''t like is that lvm snapshots don''t (currently) work for some reason. I haven''t had time to test their new NAS distro yet, but are quite happy with their ''shelve'' units. PXE with an initrd that has the AoE stuff? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ | nate carlson | natecars@natecarlson.com | http://www.natecarlson.com | | depriving some poor village of its idiot since 1981 | ------------------------------------------------------------------------ _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

I have a box that isn''t on the coraid that has pxelinux/tftpd/dhcpd installed. I built an initrd with aoe and nic driver modules in it and a linuxrc that sets things up enough to mount a root off of one of aoe partitions.> > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > > | nate carlson | natecars@natecarlson.com | http://www.natecarlson.com | > | depriving some poor village of its idiot since 1981 | > > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Edward Muller Interlix, LLC _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users
