I''ve been a user and a fan since fairly early in the Seawall days. I was then on dialup and was looking at firewalls, but hadn''t I been in a rush to set anything up. As web pages became I somewhat complex, loading components from several servers to I complete the page I had installed a caching nameserver to speed up response. One day I noticed "looking up hostname..." for sites that should have been in my cache so I checked /etc/resolv.conf and discovered a couple of strange IP numbers that nslookup showed were in Italy. I downloaded Seawall, saved it to floppy, and reformatted my HD! I as I had no way to find what else had been changed. I''ve been a fan of yours ever since and keep my Shorewall version current even though I just have a small home network which doesn''t need many of the new features. I follow the M/L in order to learn about iptables issues and to I keep up with what''s possible with Shorewall, in case I ever get the chance to admin a more complex network. I also use this M/L as an example to show doubters of OSS I support just how *good* it can be. Thanks, -- Tom P.
