Source name LINUX<00> is one of our names ! For quite a while now, I have been receiving vast numbers of these messages in my log files. I do not see any other problems with samba, but it is annoying, and I am sure it means that something is not set up quite correctly. However, I have tried to follow suggestions found on the web for similar problems and nothing seems to have made any difference. Can anyone help? Many thanks in advance, Michael -- Michael Ben-Gershon mybg at netvision.net.il

What is 192.168.1.6 ? Is it the server or some other machine? Is LINUX as machine name, workgroup name or domain name? Is the samba server a WINS server? It looks like some other machine may be claiming a machine name , or the master browser for a workgroup or domain , that your samba server also claims. Can you do a packet capture?
