How can I updated my rails 2.2.2 project to 2.3.2?

How about updating your rails gem first

# gem rails update

Then maybe freeze it

Appdir # rake rails:freeze:edge RELEASE=2.3.2

And of course change your enviroment.rb as you already said.

rake rails:update
to update scripts, boot etc
