Can Ruby/Rails be the de facto n-tier platform in future IT shops?
Can Ruby/Rails be scaled to replace the traditional corporate n-tier paradigm: database server <---- java/beans ---> application server <---- browser GUI? One example would be: Oracle <--- Java (ejb) ---> IBM Websphere <---- MS IE or Mozilla GUI. Thoughts? I''m just pondering this as I develop my skill set. I remember a little before that when I was laughed at when I asked about the possibility of c replacing fortran 77 at my school of "higher learning" I remember a little before that when a girl I just started dating, asked me to her place so she could cook me dinner and I eagerly responded with a resounding yes as I was very hungry but not for food. When we arrived and she asked me what I wanted to eat, I responded that I wasn''t hungry and we both pondered over this for a half an hour trying to sort it all out.. My only memories before that involve something to do with staples, railroad tails and ripe tomatoes but I can''t seem to make any sense of it.. hth ilan -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby on Rails: Talk" group.
