Thanks everyone. If there are things you would like to see please let me know. I want to get a new version out with Rails 2.0 as Curt mentioned and then plan toward Ruby 1.9 once its released. -Rob Bazinet On Dec 11, 9:42 pm, "gemblon (t.b.)" <rails-mailing-l...@andreas- s.net> wrote:> Curt (Work) Hibbs wrote: > > The Instant Rails project didn''t stay dead for very long... Just wanted to chime in! Thanks so much for your efforts to keep Instant Rails alive. I use it every day for development and I was really unhappy that we were going to lost it. Here is what I would like to see: - Ruby 1.8.6 (and then 1.9) - Rails 2.0.1 - Latest MySQL - RMagick Gem - json_pure Gem - Mocha Gem - Mongrel - Capistrano 2.1 This is my basic must-have list that I always hoped would be part of Instant Rails out of the box. -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby on Rails: Talk" group. Nathan, Thank you for the input. I will keep these in mind and see what others feel they need as well. I can say Ruby and Rails, along with MySQL will be key pieces in upcoming releases along with maintaining any existing software in Instant Rails.. As you know, you can always add your own gems to your Instant Rails instance anyway. I was thinking Capistrano myself. -Rob On Dec 12, 6:33 am, Nathan Esquenazi <rails-mailing-l...@andreas- s.net> wrote:> Just wanted to chime in! The one thing that would be really nice would be a pre-configured version of Subversion bundled. I know the other all in one Rails stack has that but it would be great to see that packaged with Instant Rails. I use Instant Rails as a tool to get other developers in our IT department interested in Ruby and Rails development and there is nothing like having an easy installation of all the key components available to them so they don''t get frustrated and can hit the ground running. Excellent news that IR will live on. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby on Rails: Talk" group. Bad idea. The tortoise people have an excellent subversion stack which requires installation. One of the main points of instarails is that it does NOT install. It looks cool, and I like it. It does require installation. Instant-rails does not. I like the feedback and will take it all into consideration. I want to get those things in there that make the most sense, the ones with the most hands raised. I think Capistrano would be a good one for sure. I am planning on compiling a list and asking for assistance from the community as to the importance of each.
