Interaction wise it might be very (perhaps too) complicated. However you
are right: something very useful is lurking here.
I think first step would be releasing the raspell as gem. I have
contacted the author, Matthias Veit about this, as gem would be better
supported this way rather than us doing a mere packaging.
Myself had some trouble compiling raspell on FreeBSD, needing some
manual hacking around makefiles. Judging by some comments from rails
weblog, at least one other user had trouble compiling for Tiger.
If anyone had similar problems please report it, on this thread. Not all
platforms are available to me. I have produced a simple test gem, that
works for us on Slackware.
