> HI, is there are official MIME type for Vorbis.... > > audio/x-vorbis ?Ah, good question. Technically, vorbis uses Ogg streams (Ogg is the enclosing format). So, I'd say 'audio/x-ogg' is the best idea, or 'audio/x-oggvorbis' but only if it's absolutely necessary to know that the ogg stream contains vorbis data. Vorbis is not going to be the only Ogg codec. Unless someone speaks up now with a valid point, I'm goign to go with audio/x-ogg as official. Because everybody does it that way? Why not just "audio/ogg"? Anyone else want to try again with blessing?Hi Monty, Before trying to register a media type for Ogg, you might want to read RFC 2048 to learn why you will have to call it "audio/vnd.ogg" instead of "audio/ogg". (You'd need the IETF to bless your application in order to use the IETF's tree instead of the "vnd." or "prs." trees. Talk to w3c?) If you want to see what people customarily fill into the fields in the registration form, you could look at the archive of approved types: ftp://ftp.isi.edu:/in-notes/iana/assignments/media-types -Jacob | 2.6. IANA Procedures for Registering Media Types | | The IANA will only register media types in the IETF tree in response | to a communication from the IESG stating that a given registration | has been approved. Vendor and personal types will be registered by | the IANA automatically and without any formal review as long as the | following minimal conditions are met: --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/
