Another poster also was wondering about a Mac version.  I ported
R to OpenStep, the precursor to Apple's new Rhapsody OS.  Rhapsody's
core is just just BSD Unix, so the port took about 4 hours to find
the few definitions that had to be changed.  Of course, this is
just a command-line version.  But the language is, IMHO, the heart
and soul of Splus and how it differentiates itself in the marketplace.
I submit that a port to Linux and a port to Rhapsody could be an
almost identical code tree.  Seriously.  And they'd get another
market for free.

In the mean time, R will own that market as they own the Linux market.
