[Rd] inquiry - failed to start R-2.7.0 (Window) (PR#11329)
Dear R team, I am new to R. Please forgive me if I am using the incorrect format to ask or this is not right place to ask. I have a little problem with R-2.7.0 for Window. When I started the software I repeatedly receive this message: "Error in file.exist(name) : unsupported conversion in 'filenameToWchar' as well as the "Fatal error: unable to restore saved data in .R.data" (see attached jpg). Not quite understand these last error message (I have never done anything with R-2.7.0 and there shouldn't be anything to restore, right?). I tried several times with repeated installations and reboot of my computer but got the same result. I have repeated installations of R-2.6.2. trying to see if there is anything wrong with my installation procedure and computer and it works fine with this earlier version. I have no problem with R-2.6.1 and R-2.6.2 using the same computer i.e. Microsoft Windows XP, Intel R Pentium (R) 4 CPU 2.80 GHz with 2.81 GHz 2.00 GB RAM. I have also tried this: uninstall all R software and delete the R folder (created during installation) and then installs R-2.7.0 again, but same error message showed up. I passed this question to a friend who is using R-2.5.1. He tried to install R-2.7.0 but receive the same error message. And he passed your email address. Your expert advice would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance. Regards, Dr. K.M. MA Consultant in Nuclear Medicine Department of Nuclear Medicine Tuen Mun Hospital Tsing Chung Koon Road, N.T.
