R help - Apr 2012 - Word Count

I have a sentence like the following:

sentence <- "Part 1 is working, Part 2 is not working and Part 3 is
working"

I would like th get the total count of working and not working as Working 2 and
Not Working = 1.

Can someone help with how can this be done in R??? Thank you.

Try


unlist(gregexpr("working", gsub("not working", "
", sentence)))
unlist(gregexpr("not working", sentence))

The lengths of the outputs are what you want.
Also look at the argument 'ignore.case' of BOTH 'gsub' and
'gregexpr'.
