I'm using Samba 3.0204 on SUSE 10 as a backup for our file server. The file server contains over a million files in around 90000 directories. I use xxcopy from the file server to update the SUSE machine. In KDE System Guard the process table shows smbd creeping up towards 200MB at around halfway through the backup. The machine only has 256MB and becomes unusable around this point. What can I do about this? -- Ray Greene
