samba - Sep 2005 - any known issue with printing from MS Access ?

Dear Sirs,

we are using HP200DN printer, which is shared with cups + samba.
printing is ok except MS Access. has anyone seen such effect ?

It is exactly like you described, but we are using a german versions of
Windows XP and Access (both with latest patches).

It looks like a bug...

We are using HP Laserjet 2300DN printers (all handled by samba/cups). I
am not 100% sure but if I remember correctly we had the same problem
with the cups postscript printer driver. Perhaps samba does not maintain
correct standard values for network printer?

MS Access is known to have issues with certain drivers
if they have not been initialized on the server properly.

Samba only stores what the client sets when the
driver is initalized.  The PrinterDriverData and Devmode is
treated as opaque data blob.

Okey. Whats then the right way to initialize the drivers on the server?

I installed the printer drivers through the wizard on the server as
mentioned in the manuals about samba. Then I set up the standard values
for the printer driver on the server. So I thought that so the drivers
are correctly initialised. But I also saw that the clients do not honor
this settings...
