Based on my limited experience.. On a win2K/95/98 system.. using the same
username & passwords on both the windows and linux would not prompt you for
a password.

but since this is XP and the only thing I've heard of is the 'sign &
seal'
XP registry hack.. I'm not sure.. Maybe you can try that out?

In the default smb.conf, isn't there a macro in there? something like homes
= %S or something like that? It's to share, by default, the home directory
based on the username & pass that's passed when you browse to the Linux
share.
