hi, trying to start nmbd manually (after changing the options to : nmbd -D -d 2 -G music -n winlux) have no effect. nmbd is not present as a new processid in ps ax. where can I take a look for the reason ? am using samba 2.0.7 from RH 7.1 thanks for helping in advance hans schneidhofer
I ran accross an article a while back, and for the life of me I can't find it to save my life now. This article explained how to take a mapped network drive (to samba share) on NT and re-share it to the rest of the network as if the share lived on the nt box itself. Does anyone know how to do this?? Thankx, Lee
(repost) I'm trying to get nmbd to run. I've tried running the nmbd from the command prompt with no success. ( /usr/sbin/nmbd -D ) Also, I can't seem to login to SWAT as a super user. As a result non of my edits are written from the browser (SWAT) to the disk. The message I get is: failed to open /etc/samba/smb.conf for writing I'm running RH 8.0 (and I'm a newbie). Comments and suggestions are appreciated. Frank White
