Hi, we've build samba RPMs from the 2_2 CVS tree. The packages are available for SuSE Linux 7.2, 7.3 and 8.0. You'll find them at ftp://ftp.SuSE.com/pub/people/lmuelle/i386/ in the corresponding subdirectories. Users from Europe, in particular German universities, please use our primary mirror at ftp://ftp.GwDG.de/pub/linux/suse/ftp.suse.com/people/lmuelle/i386/ The source RPM for all SuSE Linux versions is in the src subdirectory. This version is compiled with an appropriate include/version.h to allow people to check which CVS date is the base by calling /usr/sbin/smbd -V Be carefull with starting samba while booting your system, cause the start script asks you for a explicit confirmation about using a CVS snapshot version. This might lead to a hanging boot process. This message also informs about the samba bug reporting page http://www.samba.org/samba/bugreports.html You'll find this message for proofreading in /usr/share/doc/packages/samba/WARN-cvs-version If you find a bug only in the package or have any further suggestions, please feel free to contact lmuelle+samba@SuSE.de. We'll try to build fresh RPMs on a daily base. Hope that helps to develop a stable 2.2.4 release. Have a lot of fun... -- Lars M?ller SuSE Linux AG, Deutschherrnstra?e 15-19, 90429 N?rnberg, Germany
