[Samba] Converting Unix passwd to encrypted state in smbpasswd
Hello All, I was wondering if anyone knows of a utility to convert unix aix 4.3.3 passwd file to encrypted state. The users can only access the Unix file servers if the smbpasswd is encrypted. Currently, I'm manually changing the accounts by having the users re-enter their passwords via smbpasswd. There must be a quicker way. Help please. Thanks, Todd.

There must be a quicker way. There is noe quicker way. Sorry, but the encryption is incompatible. You could try crack or brute force cracking, but I dout if this is quicker. But: look at man smb.conf "update encrypted". You will have to run plaintext passwords for a while to use it. Are you switching form an NT server to samba? I think I have read about a tool that transferes the NT passwords to samba on this list.
