Here's the story so far. I had a problem serving a printer from samba 2.2.3-6 (the -6 is specific to Debian I think) to a Windows XP client and found reports of Signal 11 in samba's logfile, so I filed a bug report (Debian Bug#135115) and also sent the log etc to samba@samba.org. The problem is now cured and I can print again, following changes I made to both the client and server. Debian package samba 2.2.3a-1 became generally available so I've upgraded to that. On the client I had to "rescue" my WinXP installation due to a motherboard upgrade, and this had the side-effect of removing the printer entry that had got stuck there before. I hope it'll carry on working now: printing since I upgraded from WinME to XP has been a major headache so far. -- TH * http://www.realh.co.uk
I just installed a brand new XP workstation to work with Samba. XP is amazingly slow. The machine is new 1.2 GHz Celeron Gateway which should be super fast. But, it is not... Does anyone else have this problem too? Thanks.

Logging in? Doing file transfers? How much RAM in your client machine? Which version of Samba? Operating System Samba is running on? What is the setup of your network? Switches, hubs? 10, 100, 1000 Megabit?
