Hello, sorry for this posting, I know you must have answered this hundreds of times, but I cannot get my samba servers to appear on the network neighborhood on the W95 client machines. Can anyone tell what?s missing from my smb.conf files? The problem should be the same on all of the samba servers, how do I have to configure samba to show up in the network neighborhood? Thanx in advance. -- ... I had similar problems the first time I installed Samba. After much hair pulling, I discovered that I had to place the client machines in the same workgroup/domain as the Samba server. There may well be another way to get the Samba serve to show up if the clients are in another workgroup, but someone else can post instructions on that :-) Glen Gibb Ridley College> Hello, sorry for this posting, I know you must have answered this > hundreds of times, but I cannot get my samba servers to appear on the > network neighborhood on the W95 client machines. I recently set up Samba on an Alpha running Compaq Unix. The configuration is very similar to an existing host which runs Solaris. The only changes made were the names of some of the shares on the Alpha machine. I can see the Sun host name in Network Neighborhood on a Windows 95 machine but cannot see the Alpha hostname. What configuration parameters determine whether the host name will show up or not? Thanks -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... I don't know if this is a Windows error but the computers in the Network Neighborhood disappears after a user logs out and log back in. All the users are using one NT account <student> and unique SAMBA acount. I just upgraded to SUSE 6.4 running samba 2.06 and now i cant see the samba server in my network neighborhood anymore. Is there something i am missing here. I tried 2.07 but get the same thing. If i go back to 6.3 SUSE it works ok. Any help would be appreciated. Regards Daryl Lamble -------------- next part -------------- HTML attachment scrubbed and removed
