wine users - Apr 2011 - SolidWorks 2010 cause X's to die.

Hi!

I am trying to install SolidWorks 2010 on wine (1.3.17, from launchpad) on
xUbuntu 10.10.
I installed it by this steps:
winetricks vcrun2005 vcrun2008
instalation 
winetricks gdiplus (not for sure)
cp comdlg32.dll to SW home dir.
"winetricks mfc42" (also installs a native oleaut32) Then set oleaut32
to native.
cp oleaut32 to SolidWorks dir
installin' dcom98.exe after removing system32/ole*
winetricks dotnet30

It loads now just fine. I can create new part. It dies on save or 2D to 3D
operation (do not know how to translate it to english). But most people who had
try to install SW claims on saving-bug. In my case it does not save too, but it
crush whole X session.

I tried to capture some useful information about this by executing logsave
name.log command and here is the Tail:

'Zasoby chwilowo niedostpne' means 'resources temporary
unavailable'.

	Wine can't crash your X so this is not Wine problem. Most likely it is a 
bug in your video driver.

	You did not said what video card and driver you are using. If you are not 
using latest proprietary NVidia driver and non-legacy NVidia card then upgrade 
(driver and/or video card).

	If you are using ATI or Intel video card then some instability is to be 
expected because their Linux drivers are very buggy. ATI and Intel drivers for 
Windows are better but my personal experience with ATI is that their Windows 
drivers are not stable for professional applications (and their Linux driver 
were almost unusable for professional purposes last time I checked) - so I 
recommend you modern NVidia card.

this problem?

I own intel GMA915 GPU. SW works on Windows very good.

I agree with You about buggy intel drivers and opinion that disabling DRI is not
acceptable solution. But disagree Intel cards in linux are useless. I
sucessfully play few games, have no problems with playing movies and use compiz.

Since it is an laptop i won't replace my video to NVidia.

And now I agree. ...about intel drivers. 
We have now huge ot, but i belive it is ok. I will try now how does it work
without dri. We'll see how usefull it is. I am starting using it at studies.
Not for huge projects. I feel like one-hand while on windows, so, maybe I am
stubborn and fool but I wil try stick with that.

I would like to ask admins to add to topics name 'on intels cards' or
something alike.
