I am running wine on a macbook with OS 10.5.8 with an intel processor. Whenever I try to launch games after they install, it comes up and says that it has encountered a serious error and is going to terminate (or something like that). I have tried age of empires II, Descent 3, Descent: Freespace, and some other demos. With descent 3, you have to go setup the audio, video, etc...When i go to video, it locks up and beeps when i click the screen. All these games are from the disc. Is there something I am not doing correctly or not doing at all?
too vague.... we need terminal output for each game to find out why its failing. Most likely though you need to try running in a virtual desktop, or upgrading to the newest Xquartz.
Sorry, not very familiar with this kind of subject...How do I get a terminal output? How do I run a virtual desktop, and how do I get the latest Xquartz? (sorry if i am such a n00b in this subject)
where did you get Wine? if your running normal Wine in OSX you will always have terminal output because you have to run it through terminal. you can set virtual desktops in winecfg (wine winecfg). Xquartz is X11 for Mac OS X. Get the latest releases at http://xquartz.macosforge.org/ If your using some 3rd party program (http://wiki.winehq.org/ThirdPartyApplications), its not really supported here, as people are probably not familiar enough with the specific program to know the differences in normal Wine and the 3rd party app.
