wine users - Dec 2010 - internet connection

I used wine program loader to install Yahoo Messenger 10.  When I log on to the
IM a window opens that says unable to connect because of my Internet connection.
There is a troubleshoot button on this window, but clicking it only makes my PC
freeze up. My Ethernet connection to my DSL works for all other applications.
Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.

Your going to need to post terminal output before anyone can really help.

Also for this type of application you may want to consider one of the
many linux native messenger applications.

Don't use Wine for that. Use any of 100s available native Linux clients for
yahoo IM network.
