wine users - Sep 2010 - Rendering PNG images.

WINE does not contain the necessary libraries to render PNG libraries.

Why are they not implemented?

Are they low on a list of priorities?

There have been several attempts at implementation, all rejected by the 
Wine Code Maintainer.

Because PNG code is not a priority.  This is a volunteer project, if you 
feel that you can code an acceptable implementation, then do it.  
Otherwise, you like many others, will have to wait for someone to do it.
