I get the following: wine start Olympus/setup.exe fixme:exec:SHELL_execute flags ignored: 0x00000100 jwl at blackie:~$ err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 0x7bc9fc44 "loader.c: loader_section" wait timed out in thread 001f, blocked by 001e, retrying (60 sec) err:seh:raise_exception Unhandled exception code c0000194 flags 0 addr 0x7bc3549f When it starts up I see a small window that is mostly transparent with a progress bar. The bar advances rapidly and very briefly displays a message and becomes opaque. It goes away to fast to see the message, but it doesn't look like an error message, just maybe a "this file was unpacked" sort of message. After the unhandled exception message, nothing happens. It just sits there. The program is still running but as far as I can tell doing nothing. I searched for hints RE: the Unhandled exception code" but none of the situations fit as far as I could tell. Running Ubuntu 8.04 and wine 1.1.38. Same thing happens on my laptop running the latest (as of yesterday) and Ubuntu 9.10. It works fine in XP however I don't like to have to dual boot. Especially on the laptop which takes forever +1 day. I can't run Xen or VirtualBox either. Thanks, Jim.
Correction. The program died, apparently as a result of the unhandled exception. Jim.

I had an Olympus before and the software interacts with the camera in such a way you don't have to do anything. Because the camera tags pan image in a certain way, the Olympus software recognizes the set of images as a pan so it's almost a one click solution. If they didn't want so much for a license I'd just install Windows under VirtualBox or Xen and be done with it. But I hate to spend almost as much as the camera on software to make pan pictures easier. :) I was hoping someone would address the wine problem rather than giving me options but I guess there isn't a fix. I sure would like to know what about the setup.exe file causes the problem. I had pretty much the same problem with my tax software this year. It's worked in the past so something they did new has caused the problem. Thanks, Jim.
