[Wine] minimized application in WINE but can't find it again
hi I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and using the latest version of WINE (downloaded yesterday) I am currently running a downloader/installer in WINE and i minimized it accidentally and now i can't find it to restore it, it's not a huge issue as i'm sure the downloader/installer is still running but i would like to know how far the progress on it is... I'm running WINE in a Virtual Desktop but i can't see anything other than the blue 'wallpaper' any help would be appreciated :)

Just because you downloaded it yesterday doesn't mean it's the latest. If you minimized the app in a virtual desktop, there should be an icon for it in the lower left corner of the Wine desktop. Wineserver is still running if you can see the virtual desktop, but the app might not be. Check your running processes.

They are not robust enough to handle situations like these. If the problem continues, Alexandre recommended and so do I opening a bug report with the windows manager. This is not a bug in Wine as it does work with Gnome/KDE/AQUA (MacOSX interface) through Apple's X11 process. James McKenzie

Darothane: I don't know of any way to restore the window if there's nothing to click on. If you're sure the download is still running normally in the background (installer.exe isn't just a zombie), all I can suggest for your immediate problem is that you check the file size in your file manager to figure out when the download is complete. Beyond that, you should probably file a bug for this if your problem doesn't fit either of the two bugs that have been mentioned.

The problem is with compiz/metacity and not with Wine. If you use either Gnome or KDE, the icon is there. If you use compiz or metacity, it is not. James McKenzie> > > > >
