I had alsa support before on wine before I compiled a patched version while trying to run Dragon Age: Origins. I downloaded the latest tarball of wine, and the following two patches: bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20469, and bugs2.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=22894. All seemed to be going well. Wine compiled and installed with no errors regarding alsa drivers, but when I had no sound in any of my wine applications I checked winecfg to see whether alsa was checked. At this point winecfg gave me a message box saying: "Found driver in registry that is not available! Remove 'alsa' from registry?" I left the alsa registry info intact and switched to the oss driver and did a test sound, but this failed. I'm uncertain if there were unmet dependencies while making wine, but I received no error messages regarding alsa, and all the dependancy issues that came up were resolved. Is there an alsa driver I need to install on top of wine in order to get my sound back, or what exactly do I need to do? I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 and an SB Audigy ZS Sound Card. Also sound in Ubuntu works fine, only wine doesn't support sound as of right now.

Set winecfg to OSS and install ALSA OSS wrapper. HTH Lisi
