Consider the possibilities of a device named star.

I added devices from the global zone to the bug zone in the usual way and
rebooted the zone:

<device match="/dev/zvol/rdsk/bug/devices/*"/>

And I got this device:
root at bug-[16:06]-> ls -l /dev/zvol/rdsk/bug/devices
total 0
crw-------   1 root     sys      256, 204 Nov  9 16:03 *
root at bug-[16:06]->
