Generally, my "rule of thumb" is to just take a snapshot of the
running
DomU and rsync it to the destination. No downtime required. I completely
ignore consistency issues, except where it is really important. For
example, if a DomU runs a database, I also run an additional backup
method (eq SQL dump from within the DomU).
