Is there a distro considered the ''best'' dom0? Most stable? Or is there any difference? -- “Don''t eat anything you''ve ever seen advertised on TV” - Michael Pollan, author of "In Defense of Food" _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xen.org http://lists.xen.org/xen-users
Hi Alan, I have only used Xen with Debian so far, so my answer may not be what you are looking for. However, my understanding is that Dom0 is just a domain (VM) running on the hypervisor, it''s only defining point is that it can communicate with, and control, the Hypervisor. I could be wrong, but if Xen relies on the kernel to function, and the systems being compared use the same kernel, then "best" would be a matter of opinion. My experience with Debian has been that Wheezy is more pliable for customization and compiling, but Squeeze is more stable with supplied packages. Hope that helps, ~Casey On Fri, Apr 13, 2012 at 3:03 PM, Alan McKay <alan.mckay@gmail.com> wrote:> Is there a distro considered the ''best'' dom0? IMHO the stable pkgs doesnt have all needed features (for me) and with unstable I has had some crashes :( (mostly after 2-3 weeks runtime). Now I have centos6 with ml kernels (3.3 at this time) and xen pkgs from 'Steves blog' on all hosts and its work really good... Till now I have found only one problem, pci passthrough doesnt work with pv-grub. but it is only my subjective opinion... -- Greetz PS: sorry for my english _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xen.org http://lists.xen.org/xen-users
