Hi, Im trying to get my head round the use of XVDA in the domU config files. Should we be using that or continue to use hda? Is there any performance increase in using XVDA? We have a few Windows 2008 HVMs so should we switch the the new disk config? We are using LVM and file based images by the way. thanks Ian _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

In later kernels on domU side (2.6.38+) you will need hda on dom0 side (in xmconfig.cfg) and xvda on domU side (in fstab) or simply uuids to get along. That doesnt affect your win2008 HVMs, of course, but as i said, you will need hda for bios emulation. Hi, Sorry im not quite following. I have just set xvda in my file config and windows boots ok. I read in another post that using xvda with pv drivers offers performance increase? When you say bios emulation, do you mean the hvm loader bios? But I never ran win2008 with xen. so my own experience doesnt affect you at all, i think. Sorry to bother you.
