Hello Everyone, I''ve setup several hosts with* XCP 1.0* and manage it through XenCenter. Each host has two NICs (NIC1 and NIC2), connected to different physical switches (sw1 and sw2 respectively). After installation, Network1 and Network2 are automatically created for the two NICs. Now I am trying to setup VLAN. I create an "External Network" called NetworkVLAN, assigne a VLAN ID, and link it to NIC2. On XenCenter, the *Link Status* of Network1 and Network2 are shown connected, but that of NetworkVLAN is *disconnected*. Does this mean packets of VMs attached to NetworkVLAN can not go outside to sw2? (i.e. These packets can only travel among VMs attached to NetworkVLAN?) Is there something wrong? Thanks. Re: [Xen-users] [XCP] Disconnected link status of network
Dear Todd, Thanks. I noticed that. Originally, there is only sw1. For VLAN, I add sw2 and connect NIC2 to it. The management interface is on Network1 instead of Network2. Re: [Xen-users] [XCP] Disconnected link status of network
Hello Everyone, I take a screen shot. [image: network disconnected.jpg] Sorry for naming is different from previous discriptions. It should be modified as follows: 4 NICs (NIC 0~3) correspond to 4 Networks (Network 0~3) Only NIC 2 is not connected to a physical switch. Network 0 is the management interface. I create "External Network" called VLANNetwork2 & VLANNetwork3, assign VLAN ID 2 & 3 respectively, and link both to NIC3. However, their Link Status is "*Disconnected*" Does anyone know what is wrong? Thanks. Even I tested this in my setup. I repeated this on my two citrix servers. One has 5.6 and other has 6.0 With 5.6 citrix server, After assigning an IP in the management interfaces tab for that VLAN interface, status went to Connected stage. Please check below screen shot xen.1045712.n5.nabble.com/file/n4682091/test.jpg With 6.0 citrix, it is still in Disconnected state. Please check below screen shot xen.1045712.n5.nabble.com/file/n4682091/test2.jpg Both systems are connected to same switch. Any idea why one has connected and other has disconnected. -- View this message in context: xen.1045712.n5.nabble.com/XCP-Disconnected-link-status-of-network-tp4546751p4682091.html Sent from the Xen - User mailing list archive at Nabble.com. _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com lists.xensource.com/xen-users
