[Xen-users] Starting Ubuntu 10.04 on XCP
Hello, I’m having difficulty to starting Ubuntu 10.04 virtual machine with XCP 0.5.0. I put 3 files (vmlinuz, initrd.gz, xm-debian.cfg) in the same place under the unpacked ISO tree but when I start the VM, the following error is returned: # xe vm-install template="Ubuntu Lucid Lynx 10.04 (32-bit)" new-name-label=Teste other-config-install-repository=nfs:10.0.0.3: /visostore/ubuntu # xe vm-param-set uuid=7b50fb26-c205-e784-b461-f0b593456c84 other-config:install-repository=nfs:10.0.0.3:/visostore/ubuntu # xe vm-start uuid=7b50fb26-c205-e784-b461-f0b593456c84 [''INVALID_SOURCE'', ''Unable to access a required file in the specified repository: file:///tmp/nfs-repo-Q3Kuwd/dists/lucid/main/installer-i386/current/images/netboot/xen/vmlinuz.'', '''', ''''] I''m a newbie with XCP. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance! _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users
You need: 1) Create vm (vm-install) 2) Add network interface 3) Set up other-config:install-repository. Less troublefull way is using network installation. You need to point to repo, like this: other-config:install-repository=http://mirror.yandex.ru/ubuntu/ Note, that EVERY packet needed for OS installation will be downloaded from repos. (in case of centos it''s up to 300Mb). Thanks for you answer, George. See, I already especified the other-config parameter, but over LAN with the NFS thing. I''ve configured another server to be the iso storage with NFS protocol, installing the NFS service and changing /etc/export on that machine running Ubuntu. About the item 2, I do think this host already have a network interface, because I can ping the other hosts.
