Funny, virt-manager appears responsible , to work as :- 1. virsh list 2. virsh start/stop <DomainName> Plus # vncviewer localhost:0 via terminal session. Re: [Xen-users] virsh -c xen:/// list: = Connection refused, Set up Xen 3.4.2 & Libvirt 0.6.1 on top of Ubuntu 9.04 Server
Gerry, After warm reboot, i got pretty interesting results (Ubuntu 9.04 Server) :- 1. Virsh started to work # virsh create f12-install.xml # vncviewer localhost:0 & F12 PV DomU installation Define domain and load # virsh define f12-runtime.xml # virsh start <DomName> ( from previous profiles) # vncviewer localhost :0 2. Virt-manager appeared to show proper entries and allowed me to start/stop F12 DomU, but not "open", instead of open # vncviewer localhost:0 3. Virt-install stopped to work , giving "segmentation fault" right away. I guess we have different setups in regards of Xen 3.4.X. You did "prevu build" and installed debian packages making Ubuntu''s 9.10 packaging system aware of your actions. I built Xen 3.4.2 manually , it mostly reminds intrusion into system, regardless i understand , what "prevu" build is and how to proceed with it. That was due to intend to apply MRJ''s ext4 patch for pygrub ( already CS 19858 in xen-3.4-testing.hg ) and move faster then "prevu" does. I rebooted box several times to make sure the picture with virsh and virt-install kept stay the the same and it did. I created several F12 DomUs managing via virsh profiles and it worked 3 times for me . Virt-install is gone. It worked (several times ) , but only right after "apt-get install virt-manager libvirt-bin kvm", i.e. only before the first time i rebooted the box. Boris . P.S. It''s Q9550 ,8 GB RAM , SATA Barracuda 500 GB HDD box , built up on ASUS P5Q-E ________________________________ From: Gerry Reno <greno@verizon.net> To: "xen-users@lists.xensource.com" <xen-users@lists.xensource.com> Sent: Sun, January 3, 2010 7:20:11 PM Subject: Re: [Xen-users] virsh -c xen:/// list: = Connection refused, Set up Xen 3.4.2 & Libvirt 0.6.1 on top of Ubuntu 9.04 Server> > Actually, i get only working virt-install. It''s possible that at least the distro kernels change to using better compression methods (bzip2/lzma) in the future, so then pv-grub should support them aswell. I''ve been working on adding bzip2/lzma support to pv-grub, but haven''t had time recently to finish the project. [Xen-users] Re: Kernel 2.6.31.8 & xen-patches-2.6.31-9.tar.bz2 ( xenified aka Suse)
I don''t know of the command line equivalent, but using YaST''s Online Update module will do this. There are no ISOs of updates afaik. The other alternative is to download them from an FTP server... Jan>>> Boris Derzhavets <bderzhavets@yahoo.com> 04.01.10 18:07 >>>Not sure, it''s the right place to ask you a questions. Is it possible to download maintenance update for 11.2 as ISO image or what is equivalent of "yum update" on OpenSuse ? Thanks. Boris. ________________________________ From: Jan Beulich <JBeulich@novell.com> To: Boris Derzhavets <bderzhavets@yahoo.com> Cc: "xen-users@lists.xensource.com" <xen-users@lists.xensource.com> Sent: Mon, January 4, 2010 7:53:26 PM Subject: Re: Kernel 2.6.31.8 & xen-patches-2.6.31-9.tar.bz2 ( xenified aka Suse) And the problem also should be fixed in our just released maintenance update for 11.2. The bug you mention is waiting for your feedback. Jan>>> Boris Derzhavets <bderzhavets@yahoo.com> 04.01.10 17:44 >>>Not sure, you have noticed my feedback to Andy ( about 2-3 weeks ago ) Bug https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=553690 gets resolved after patching via http://gentoo-xen-kernel.googlecode.com/files/xen-patches-2.6.31-9.tar.bz2. I tested F12 PV DomU installation at Xen 3.4.3 Dom0 on top of Ubuntu 9.10 Server with 2.6.31.8 patched via mentioned patch set Boris. _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users
