Good Afternoon, I''m Alex Nogueira and have a problem with xen 3.0. When I go to install appears the message: xm create /etc/xen/win2003.hvm Using config file "/etc/xen/win2003.hvm". Error: HVM guest support is unavailable: is VT/AMD-V supported by your CPU and enabled in your BIOS? It follows below the data of xen [root@localhost /]# xm info host : localhost.localdomain release : 2.6.19-1.2895.fc6xen version : #1 SMP Wed Jan 10 19:47:12 EST 2007 machine : i686 nr_cpus : 2 nr_nodes : 1 sockets_per_node : 1 cores_per_socket : 1 threads_per_core : 2 cpu_mhz : 2992 hw_caps : bfebfbff:00000000:00000000:00000180:0000441d total_memory : 2046 free_memory : 127 xen_major : 3 xen_minor : 0 xen_extra : .3-0-1.2895.fc6 xen_caps : xen-3.0-x86_32p xen_pagesize : 4096 platform_params : virt_start=0xf5800000 xen_changeset : unavailable cc_compiler : gcc version 4.1.1 20070105 (Red Hat 4.1.1-51) cc_compile_by : brewbuilder cc_compile_domain : redhat.com cc_compile_date : Wed Jan 10 18:29:56 EST 2007 xend_config_format : 2 Thanks , _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

What processor is it? Can you post the output of /proc/cpuinfo? -- Mats _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users
It shows you the error clearly.. Well is your system fully virtualized or para virtualized. Fullyvirtualized is if your system is VT or AMD enabled. You can check this out by entering below mentioned command. #grep vmx /proc/cpuinfo If you have the ''svm; or ''vmx'' flags, then your cpu is capable of fully virtualization. A large number of machine disable this in the BIOS. So make sure its enabled from BIOS . You have to look for something like virtualization in BIOS as every BIOS manufacture call by different name. If there is nothing like that, then probably you dont have fully virtualized system so you can not run window based OS on top of it. Did you checked whether your system is fully or para vitualized. Just enter the command over terminal which i mentioned and check for it. And if it doesnt show those flags then go to BIOS of your system by pressing F2 and look for option like VIRTUALIZATION and if you dont have any option related to that then i guess your system is not intel vt or amd enabled. You probable can not have windows on top of xen then... go through the link below and it should clear your all doubt... http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FedoraXenQuickstartFC6? all the best alecomputacao wrote:> > Ok.. > > My problem is : > > > Another problem would be which and as access the bios of the virtual > machine? > > Good Afternoon, >> >> I''m Alex Nogueira and have a problem with xen 3.0. >> >> When I go to install appears the message: >> >> xm create /etc/xen/win2003.hvm >> Using config file "/etc/xen/win2003.hvm". >> Error: HVM guest support is unavailable: is VT/AMD-V supported by your >> CPU >> and enabled in your BIOS? >> >> >> It follows below the data of xen >> [root@localhost /]# xm info >> host : localhost.localdomain >> release : 2.6.19-1.2895.fc6xen >> version : #1 SMP Wed Jan 10 19:47:12 EST 2007 >> machine : i686 >> nr_cpus : 2 >> nr_nodes : 1 >> sockets_per_node : 1 >> cores_per_socket : 1 >> threads_per_core : 2 >> cpu_mhz : 2992 >> hw_caps : bfebfbff:00000000:00000000:00000180:0000441d >> total_memory : 2046 >> free_memory : 127 >> xen_major : 3 >> xen_minor : 0 >> xen_extra : .3-0-1.2895.fc6 >> xen_caps : xen-3.0-x86_32p >> xen_pagesize : 4096 >> platform_params : virt_start=0xf5800000 >> xen_changeset : unavailable >> cc_compiler : gcc version 4.1.1 20070105 (Red Hat 4.1.1-51) >> cc_compile_by : brewbuilder >> cc_compile_domain : redhat.com >> cc_compile_date : Wed Jan 10 18:29:56 EST 2007 >> xend_config_format : 2 >> >> Thanks , > > > anant wrote: >> >> Pls post your question here, rather then mailing....its easy for me to >> answer here and moreover it could be helpful for others. >> >> >> > >-- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/Error-Install-Win2003-XEN-Opensource-3.0-tf3229063.html#a9001967 Sent from the Xen - User mailing list archive at Nabble.com. _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users
