Hi all, I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to get a clear picture of an entire server, dom0s including domUs. This could be important in determining which server would be a candidate for another domU, when we need extra services, without interfering too much with the rest of the setup. Is there a way to get a clear view of the cpu load and the IO load on a complete machine? -- Gegroet, Tim _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

[Xen-users] Xen 3.0.4 RPMs available for OpenSUSE 10.2
Hi All, Does anyone know if rpms for xen 3.0.4 are available for OpenSUSE 10.2. I can only google the OpenSUSE factory rpms which are 3.0.3. Thanks in advance, Steve. _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

I don''t know of disk IO, but I also don''t know where to see disk IO data apart from benchmark tools, which is not what we talk about here, I assume) Henning _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

I meant, without Xen you can get some statistics of your server (load and mem usage, mostly) to determine if you should run any more services on the machine. If either is too high, you''re probably better off using another server (or reducing the load first). It''s not something that is a clear yes or no, but at least I''ve a gut feeling about it when I see the numbers.> xentop, xm list --longOkay, I''ll look into these.> Net IO can also be seen in Xentop, and in xm output I think, as well > as in ifconfig. But I want to see the activity for the complete machine, not just for one domU. Any thoughts? -- Gegroet, Tim _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

This can be graphed. Per device IO load can be gauged from "iostat -x" output, which works for me since I use LVM for my domU block devices. It would be great if there were some way to export some CPU and IO counters for all domU, from dom0 say via SNMP. I have not found anything though, and I guess this sort of thing is not a Xen Source priority. Hi, > I had the same problem. It seems there won''t be any 3.0.4 packages > available for 10.2. I think they''ll be released for 10.3. you ever tried these packages: http://forge.novell.com/modules/xfmod/project/?xenpreview I''m not quite sure on which level they are right now, but in the past they always included the latest one! BTW: I also had success installing the binary-distribution of the xen-source 3.0.2-packages on OSS 10.0, 10.1 and SLES 10 Beta some time ago, so probably it also can run with 3.0.4 on OSS 10.2! -- Chau y hasta luego, Thorolf _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

I seem to remember reading a message (possibly from Henning > Sprang) that > said 3.0.4 didn''t work well. However, my memory isn''t that good! :-)Yes, I worked for me. No problem at all, I had just do disable USB support in my kernel, as my DL380 won''t properly boot with that. But I did switch back to SLES10 and the xenpreview kernel from novell as they fit much better im XEN strategy. But 3.0.4 on openSuSE 10.2 worked not as stable as I supposed to.
