[Xen-users] Is it because of RAM ? pls help:::Guest Install Error
Hi all I have got a fully virtualized system with FC6 along with XEN 3.0.3, now i am trying to install guest OS on top of XEN but when i start the install of guest OS(win xp or SeSU Linux) through virtual machine manager, it gives out Guest Install Error i.e. Error: VirDomainCreateLinux()failed I really dont know about the reason but i read it somewhere that it could be a problem due to RAM. I am attaching the info of my physical and logical volume pls check if i dont have the required memory for the install. I am bit new to FC6 and XEN so i am not getting my head arround this issue..... ....physical Volume PV Name /dev/hda2 VG Name VolGroup00 PV Size 74.41 gb /not usable 0 Allocatable Yes PE Size (KByte) 32768 Total PE 2381 Free PE 1 Allocated PE 2380 PV UUID g58hs3-8QnD-MLRX-3mIq-1Kxw-luhQ-AToLbX Logical Volume LV Name /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 VG Name VolGroup00 LV UUID qX6Aww-1RJo-f1Ws-LHQL-XIp6-lCLi-YBfhsJ LV write Access read/write LV Status available # open 1 LV Size 73.44 GB Current LE 2350 Segments 1 Allocation inherit Read ahead sectors 0 Block device 263:0 Logical Volume LV Name /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol01 VG Name VolGroup00 LV UUID WwbLYG-78b1-j3xK-BpsU-MGSl0upiV-Kx0jPM lv Write Access read/write LV Status available # open 1 LV Size 960.00 MB Current LE 30 Segments 1 Allocation inherit Read Ahead sectors 0 Block device 253:1 thanks -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/Is-it-because-of-RAM---pls-help%3A%3A%3AGuest-Install-Error-tf2807412.html#a7832812 Sent from the Xen - User mailing list archive at Nabble.com. _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

Then, if you suspect RAM is the problem, why do you post your lvm setup? If you really think RAM is connected to lvm, then you really must learn about computers and linux much much more before trying to install Xen servers. This is not a computer and linux beginners list. Sorry to be that direct, but it''s really better for you to learn computer basics first. We can''t help you with that. oh thanks for pointing me out but if you go through FC6 manual they have mentioned that by physical volume they mean RAM...which was confusing me and that was the reason i posted. Well if you know a lot about FC6 then could you also tell me from where could i check the RAM of the system as there is no option in FC6 GUI. And i have checked the bios aswell it said system memory and extended memory, now whats that? Finally i check that on board its 512mb Thanks for correcting me any way and let me know if you know about it. thanks Henning Sprang wrote:> > On 12/12/06, anant <ANigam@uclan.ac.uk> wrote: >> >> Hi all >> I have got a fully virtualized system with FC6 along with XEN 3.0.3, now >> i >> am trying to install guest OS on top of XEN but when i start the install >> of >> guest OS(win xp or SeSU Linux) through virtual machine manager > > I repeat myself: the fedora-xen list is much better suited to debug > problems with the fedora specific programs, and virt-manager is one of > them. > > Then, if you suspect RAM is the problem, why do you post your lvm setup? > > If you really think RAM is connected to lvm, then you really must > learn about computers and linux much much more before trying to > install Xen servers. Re: [Xen-users] Is it because of RAM ? pls help:::Guest Install Error
its allright i gt to know about the problem. well the command is # cat /proc/meminfo which showed the exact free memory i.e. 7948KB which i think was the reason. Ill increase the RAM 1st and lets see if it works... thanks Henning Sprang wrote:> > On 12/12/06, anant <ANigam@uclan.ac.uk> wrote: >> >> Hi all >> I have got a fully virtualized system with FC6 along with XEN 3.0.3, now >> i >> am trying to install guest OS on top of XEN but when i start the install >> of >> guest OS(win xp or SeSU Linux) through virtual machine manager > > I repeat myself: the fedora-xen list is much better suited to debug > problems with the fedora specific programs, and virt-manager is one of > them. > > Then, if you suspect RAM is the problem, why do you post your lvm setup? > > If you really think RAM is connected to lvm, then you really must > learn about computers and linux much much more before trying to > install Xen servers.
